2022 Oscars: The Pursuit of Slappyness – More Movies Weekly – Episode 44

In this episode of the More Movies Weekly podcast, Greg and Dave discuss the 2022 Oscars ceremony, including, of course, the infamous slap heard around the world, Will Smith and his confrontation with Chris Rock! We, of course, also discuss all the winners and losers at the 2022 Oscars and compare our predictions to the actual results, talk about our favourite moments of the night, and mention all the films that have been nominated that we have covered in the last few months.

We also take a look at King Richard (2021), the last Best Picture nominee we had yet to cover, the 2021 American biographical sports drama film directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and written by Zach Baylin, starring stars Will Smith in the title role along with Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn, and Jon Bernthal. Will Smith won the Best Actor trophy for his performance in this film at the 2022 Oscars.

Armed with a clear vision and a brazen, 78-page plan, Richard Williams is determined to write his two daughters, Venus and Serena, into history. Training on tennis courts in Compton, Calif., Richard shapes the girls’ unyielding commitment and keen intuition. Together, the Williams family defies seemingly insurmountable odds and the prevailing expectations laid before them.
