The Guilty vs. The Guilty – More Movies Weekly – Episode 26

In this episode of More Movies Weekly, Greg and Dave discuss The Guilty (2018), a 2018 Danish crime thriller film directed by Gustav Möller and starring Jakob Cedergren and also discuss and compare it with the 2021 American remake The Guilty (2021), directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

In the 2018 film, alarm dispatcher and former police officer Asger Holm answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins.

The 2021 remake is set in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Baylor tries to save a caller in grave danger but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

They also discuss the new trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film Licorice Pizza (2021). Starring Alana Haim, Cooper Hoffman, Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper, and Benny Safdie, Licorice Pizza is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973… the film tracks the treacherous navigation of first love.

They also discuss the new deal struck between the estate of Roald Dahl and Netflix, with the intention of producing a “universe” of films and television shows on the platform based of the authors’ works, the upcoming film project leaked this week which will reunite George Clooney and Brad Pitt in a Jon Watts directed thriller aswell as other movie news.
