In this episode of the More Movies Weekly podcast, Greg and Dave discuss The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021) which was adapted for screen and directed by Joel Coen. This film is the first solo directorial effort by Joel Coen. All of his previous films have been co-directed by his brother Ethan Coen, though Ethan was uncredited as director until 2004. The film stars Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Bertie Carvel, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling, Kathryn Hunter, and Brendan Gleeson.
In the classic Shakesperean tale, a Scottish lord becomes convinced by a trio of witches that he will become the next King of Scotland. His ambitious wife will do anything to support him in his plans of seizing power.
We also discuss the launch of a new Space Station designed for shooting films, as well as other leisure activities, and the possibility of Tom Cruise shooting a movie in space! We also discuss the pre-production that is well underway for Dune: Part Two (2023) and the announcement of Chicken Run 2 (2023), a sequel to the original by Aardman Animations coming to Netflix soon.
